Oak Tree Rabbitry is located in Northern Indiana, owned and operated by Sue (Wiles) Goote and family. I started into rabbits in the 70s as a 4-H project, raising Siamese Satins. This was a family project with Mom (Dee Wiles) raising top quality Rex in all colors and Dad (EC Wiles) raising Californian, a Silver Marten or two and finally New Zealand Whites. I have continued with the family farm raising horses, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and quail.

Some of the clubs we are affiliated with are the American Rabbit Breeders Assn, American Satin RBA, American Polish Rabbit Club, Heartland Polish, Cinnamon Rabbit Breeders Assn., Greater Midwest Cinnamon Enthusiasts, Indiana State RBA, and the Calumet Rabbit Breeders. We actively support Indiana 4-H.

Currently the barn supports approximately 150 holes sharing the horsebarn. My main project has been working with the Mini Satins (Siamese in particular), although there are several 'science projects' in the making.

I would like to mention that I have Tort Satin listed as a variety. These animals are not colors produced from other varieties as accidentals. They have been specifically Satinized from a top line of Cinnamons. They are in the stages now that the litters are 100% Satin and are only mixed with Siamese. Therefore the results of the litters are only Tort and Siamese.

I have kept my main showline of Siamese clean of the Tort breeding and do not mix the two lines. I am a firm believer that less color in the nestbox makes a better quality animal. When I breed animals together I can predict with great accuracy what will be waiting for me in the nest.

Have expanded the rabbitry to include a heated room in the garage that started with just a few cages for a maternity ward and has been expanding rapidly. By January 2014 there will be approximately 100+ holes plus the current barn. Have partnered with Sue Webb (SD Rabbitry) long time Polish breeder in raising nationally competitive Polish in all colors. Tiana and Alyx Wiles have found a love for this small, easy to handle breed. I have been working with Mara Scott now for several years perfecting the rare breed Cinnamons.
